I am sending our general bibliographies for reverse painting on glass as well as some "tinsel" references. Please let me know if you would like additional bibliographies that deal with reverse paintings from specific countries or books about Victorian crafts. I found reference to a 1983 Sotheby Parke Bernet Inc NY auction catalog for Edward Leight collection of tinsel paintings: The Edward Leight collection of 19th century American tinsel paintings, American furniture and decorative works of art, items of Masonic interest, Chinese export porcelain, Oriental rugs and carpets and paintings. Sale code: 1065. Place of sale: New York. This addendum lists tinsel painting lots only: lot numbers 250-309. Sotheby Arcade Auction. I did not find the catalog in the Rakow Library's collection; however, Worldcat lists two libraries: http://www.worldcat.org/advancedsearch It seems the collection was sold in lots and dispersed. The collection was shown at the Washburn Gallery in 1983. Perhaps the gallery owners could give you some clues to the current location of the collection. If you wish to obtain copies of library items in our lists, please contact your local library. The Rakow Research Library is a member of the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). Your library can contact us through OCLC or they may send an Interlibrary Loan form to us through e-mail, mail or fax. You may request up to 10 items at a time. We send photocopies of articles and will also loan books if a second copy is available in the library collection. Books are loaned for four week periods.
