To learn more about the museum's glass collections, particularly tableware in 17th-18th century America, please contact the Museum’s Curatorial Department through their online form (http://www.cmog.org/glass-questions). Let them know what your deadline is.
You can also search the museum's collection online: www.cmog.org . The database works best if you log in (it's easy to set up).
Select the "collections" tab and use the "Collections Browser" to search for items in your geographic and date range.
You can search for library collections at the same time, or search our online catalog. The library has two databases, one is specifically for magazine articles (but they are not full-text).
I added a bibliography for American glass. Please let me know if you need additional information.
You may wish to search for estate papers or "inventories", for example:
An of the governor's palace taken
after the death of Lord Botetourt : an inventory of the
personal estate of His Excellency, Lord Botetourt, Royal
Governor of Virginia, 1768-1770.
Williamsburg, Va. : Colonial Williamsburg Foundation,
c1981. 19 p.
Location: Secured Stacks - Cage - Uncataloged
If you wish to obtain copies of library items, please contact your local library. The Rakow Research Library is a member of the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). Your library can contact us through OCLC or they may send an Interlibrary Loan form to us by e-mail. We send copies of articles and will also loan certain books if a second copy is available in the library collection. Books are loaned for a four week period. For further information, please see our web page: http://www.cmog.org/research/library/visit/services/loan.
