I talked with a scientific glassblower friend, Sally Prasch, who told me she sometimes decorates petri dishes (and other scientific glass).

Other scientific glassblowers may add personal touches to the glass they make -- as a "whimsey." I did not find this documented in our books or catalogs.

This may be a fairly recent development because colored borosilicate glasses have become readily available now.

You may wish to contact the American Scientific Glass Society: https://asgs-glass.org/mo/index.php/homepage

If you wish to talk with Sally, she is listed on the "Find a Glassblower" page, under the Northeast: https://asgs-glass.org/mo/index.php/northeast
