The data I found by searching for Ancestry.com for Boles Von Manikowski was a bit confusing as it seems that there was a Boles Manikowski Sr. and Jr who lived in Corning NY, although most of the records on Ancestry.com do not specify Jr. or Sr. That being said most of the records birth and death dates correlate with Boles Manikowski Jr. rather than senior.
Yes, according to Ask Art Boles Von Manikowski was born 1892, was active/lived in New York / Germany. Boles Von Manikowski is known for his work as a Painter, designer, sculptor, and lecturer.
The ancestry records did not include the Von in his Surname, but it seems pretty clear that the records do relate to the individual who worked as an artist(with exception of Boles Manikowski Sr) I have copied all the records to a word document with hyperlinks, although you will need to have access to Ancestery.com to view the records(you can always visit the Library).
According to the 1925 New York State Census there was a Boles Manikowski with a Birth date of: about 1893, that immigrated from Poland, that was 32 in 1925, that lived in Corning NY, Steuben County,
According to the 1930 United States General Census Boles Manikowski immigrated to the United States in 1909 from Germany,Lived in Corning NY, was married, and was a designer in a glass-works, it also puts his birth year at about 1892 (I have copied record and all others).
The U.S Social Security Death Index 1935-2014 has Boles Manikowski as having been born September 11 1892 and having died October 1962 with the last residence being in the State of New York.
U.S find a Grave Index has a death date for a Boles Manikowski Jr. at 1962 and the grave is in Saint Marys South Corning, Steuben County.
There is also a U.S find a grave index for a Boles Manikowski Sr. having been born in 1863 and died in 1919 buried in Saint Marys cemetery in South Corning, Steuben County
The U.S. World War I Draft Registration Card for 1917-1918 has a Boles Manikowski Jr. Jr having a birth date of September 11th 1891 and a Birthplace of Posen Germany.
It is interesting to look at the records to get a better idea of his lifespan and whereabouts. Knowing the birth and death dates can give a range if the artists range of production. Please feel free to contact the archivist or ask any other questions you feel the Library can assist you with. Thank you again,
