Overview

The Rakow Research Library at The Corning Museum of Glass contains the most comprehensive collection in the world about the art and history of glass and early glassmaking. We also have an extensive collection about techniques for contemporary glass artists.

We have a browsable collection of books, exhibition catalogs, journals, magazines, and newsletters, as well as

  • more than 200 manuscript collections, including business records and artist papers
  • thousands of stained-glass window cartoons
  • design drawings
  • photographs and prints
  • manuscripts from the 12th century forward
  • incunabula (books printed before 1500)
  • tens of thousands of trade catalogs from the 18th century to now
  • ephemera (postcards, broadsides, stereographs, advertisements, billheads, etc.)
  • hundreds of thousands of auction catalogs
