The first commercially produced available glass hummingbird feeder was apparently sold by the Audubon Novelty Company in Medina New York in 1950.  The "Webster Feeder" had been designed by a man in the 1930s for his wife and became well-known after photgraphs of hummingbirds at the feeder appeared in a 1947 National Geographic article. You can read about this in the book Hummingbirds of North America: Attracting, Feeding and Photographing.

I haven't found anything on hummingbird feeders from countries other than the U.S. Are you interested in a particular geographic area or time period?
