What is an accession number?

Answer

An accession number is the Museum's identification number for each work or object in its glass collection. It is assigned when an item enters the collection. It is used by Rights and Reproductions staff -- and all Museum staff -- to locate images and information about that specific item in the Museum databases.

It looks like this: 79.1.1. It can be found in the object information on the Museum's online collection browser.
